Welcome to Kindergarten!

Here, we learn to pray and play and learn together.  The start of Kindergarten is such an exciting time for students and teachers alike.  For the students, it’s getting to be in school full-time and finding out all about what that entails – the routines, the activities, the school itself.  It’s a time of connecting with old friends after a summer apart, and meeting new friends.  For the teachers, it’s an opportunity to see these little people grow, grow, grow!  Every day is a chance for the children to become more proficient with their responsibilities and to learn new skills.  There is nothing quite like the look on a child’s face when they discover that they can do something for the first time.

Our Year

Through the year, we begin to build our foundational knowledge in literacy and numeracy.  We learn to work independently in a variety of activities so that we may do Literacy Centres (targeted instruction and practice in Language Arts).  Our themes are based on the Science, Social Studies, Career and Health Education curricula.  An exciting part of each day is the time spent working and playing in Learning Centres, a great opportunity for physical (fine and large motor skills), social and artistic development.
